Legend has it that in the mid-19th century, a great fire swept through Denver, leaving behind a trail of devastation and prompting a dramatic change in building practices. In the aftermath of that catastrophic event, the city embraced brick construction as a means of protection and permanence. Brick houses began to dot the landscape, standing as enduring symbols of safety and renewal. It was in this spirit of rebirth and fortitude that Brickalow Publishing House was born. Founded in a charming 1917 brick bungalow ( a “brickalow”) in Denver, our company carries forward the legacy of that transformative moment—using the strength of brick as a metaphor for building enduring narratives.
